How to Choose the Right AIWaft Conference Setup for Your Room

Compare AIWaft's eight conference products (a video bar, three cameras, and four speakerphones and match the right one to your room size.

If you want one unit that handles both video and audio in a small meeting room look at the MeetBar. If you want a sharper picture choose the BirdEye webcam for a simple USB setup or one of our two PTZ cameras if you want to steer the camera from a remote. If the real problem is that people can't hear each other, start with a speakerphone: the M3B for smaller groups the M5B Pro, M6B-EX or AIW-M5B EX for rooms of up to 15 people and the daisy chain AIW-M5B EX setup for rooms of up to 20-30 people.

Why your room setup matters

A meeting can be well planned and still go badly if people at the far end can't see faces or make out voices. Both are equipment problems and both are fixable. The hard part is that "conference gear" covers everything from a small desktop speaker to a wall mounted camera and it isn't obvious which product suits which room.

This guide covers our eight conference products: one video bar three cameras, and four speakerphones. For each we explain what it does, who it suits and where it isn't the right fit.

Four questions to ask before you choose

  • How big is the room, and how many people use it? Our spec sheets give room sizes in square meters and attendee counts, so you can match them directly.
  • Do you need to be seen, heard, or both? Cameras handle video, speakerphones handle audio, and the MeetBar does both in one unit.
  • Does the camera need to move? A fixed camera shows one view. A PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera is motorized, so you can aim and zoom it with a remote or saved presets.
  • How will it connect? Our products use a mix of USB, HDMI, Ethernet, Bluetooth and 3.5mm audio. Check what your room's computer or display supports.

The all-in-one: AIWaft MeetBar

The MeetBar puts a camera speaker and microphones into a single unit so a small room needs one device rather than three.

  • Camera: 8.42 MP sensor, 4K at 30 fps, 5x digital zoom and a 119° diagonal field of view
  • AI modes: single-person tracking, speaker tracking, participant tracking and close-up of the speaker
  • Audio: 8 built-in microphones with a 6 m pickup range, an 8 W speaker, echo cancellation, automatic noise reduction and automatic gain
  • Connections: HDMI, USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, with optional Wi-Fi via a dongle. It comes with an IR remote, a desktop stand and a wall mount, and it can be installed on a TV.

Best for: huddle and medium rooms with 4 6 participants.
Not ideal for: larger rooms. It has fixed focus and only light pan/tilt (±10°) so it isn't a substitute for a full PTZ camera.

The cameras

AIWaft BirdEye 4K Webcam

BirdEye is the simplest upgrade here: a compact USB camera for a single room or desk.

  • 8.42 MP Sony CMOS sensor, 120° field of view, 4x digital zoom and an f/2.2 aperture
  • 4K at 30 fps in compressed MJPEG and H.264 formats. Uncompressed formats (YUY2/NV12) top out at 1280×720.
  • Wide dynamic range (WDR) support, 0.1 lux minimum illumination, and power drawn over USB
  • 199 × 92.5 × 65 mm and 0.32 kg

199 × 92.5 × 65 mm and 0.32 kg

Not ideal for: rooms where the camera needs to move. The spec sheet lists no pan/tilt and no speaker.

AIWaft 4K PTZ Camera (AIW20A1)

This is for rooms where one fixed view isn't enough. The brochure highlights auto tracking and gesture control and the spec sheet adds multiple saved scenes and remote control of pan tilt and zoom.

  • 12x optical zoom plus 16x digital zoom, with auto focus
  • Connections: HDMI, USB 3.0, Ethernet (RJ-45), RS232 and 3G-SDI
  • Includes a remote, 1.5 m cable, power adapter and wall mount
  • Desktop or mounted use; 1.3 kg

Best for: larger rooms and presenters who move around.
Not ideal for: a one-box solution. Audio isn't part of the spec sheet, so pair it with a speakerphone.

AIWaft 4K Pro Lens PTZ Camera (AIW20A2)

The AIW20A2 is aimed at installed rooms and teams that manage their AV setup centrally.

  • 12x optical zoom, with a view angle from 72.5° (wide) to 6.43° (fully zoomed in)
  • Pan range of -170° to +170° and tilt of -30° to +90°
  • Pan range of -170° to +170° and tilt of -30° to +90°
  • Output options: HDMI, SDI, Ethernet, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Listed output formats run up to 1080p60.
  • Supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), so one network cable can carry both power and the video stream. Also supports professional control protocols such as ONVIF and VISCA over IP.
  • 1.40 kg

Best for: permanent installations and rooms run by an IT or AV team.
Not ideal for: anyone who wants plug-and-play simplicity. A USB webcam or the MeetBar is easier to set up.

The speakerphones

All four speakerphones use Bluetooth 5.0, offer full-duplex audio (both sides can talk at once) and echo cancellation, and list support for FaceTime, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Hangouts, OBS and Xsplit.

AIWaft M3B

The compact option for small groups.

  • 4-microphone array with 360° pickup, 5 m range, for 3-12 attendees in 15-30 m² rooms
  • 5 W / 95 dB speaker
  • 2,400 mAh battery: up to 6 hours of calls, up to 8 hours of music, and about 3 hours to charge
  • USB-C and 3.5 mm audio; 160 × 160 × 38 mm, 0.44 kg

Best for: small teams and people who move between rooms.
Not ideal for: larger groups. Move up to an 8 mic model.

AIWaft M5B Pro

  • Optional expansion mics (3.5 mm jack, 3 m pickup each, 95.5 g)
  • 180 × 180 × 35.4 mm, 0.61 kg

Best for: medium rooms, especially if you want to add expansion mics.
Not ideal for: rooms beyond 30 m² on its own.

AIWaft M6B-EX

A squarer, taller design built around expansion microphones.

  • 8 microphone array, 6 m pickup, up to 15 attendees
  • 5 W / 110 dB speaker
  • 8,000 mAh battery with up to 16 hours of music playback
  • Two 3.5 mm ports for expansion mics (3 m pickup each) plus one 3.5 mm audio port
  • 143 × 143 × 75 mm, 1.02 kg

Best for: longer tables where some seats sit far from the center.
Not ideal for: anyone who wants the thinnest, lightest unit. It's the heaviest speakerphone here.

AIWaft AIW-M5B-EX

The one built around daisy-chaining.

  • 8-microphone array, 6 m pickup. A single unit covers 15-30 m² and up to 15 attendees; a daisy-chain setup is listed for 30-60 m² and 20-30 attendees.
  • 5 W / 120 dB speaker; 8,000 mAh battery with up to 17 hours of music playback
  • 180 × 180 × 35.4 mm, 0.61 kg

Best for: larger rooms and teams that may outgrow a single unit.
Not ideal for: small rooms, where the M3B is lighter and more compact.

How to choose

  • A huddle room, one device: MeetBar.
  • A better picture, minimal setup: BirdEye.
  • A larger room that needs a moving camera: a PTZ camera, plus a speakerphone for audio. Choose the AIW20A1 for a remote-controlled, ready-to-use camera, or the AIW20A2 if your IT team manages AV centrally.
  • Audio is the problem, small group: M3B.
  • Audio is the problem, up to 15 people: M5B Pro, M6B-EX or AIW-M5B-EX.
  • Everyone needs to be heard in a big room: the AIW-M5B-EX daisy-chain setup, or a speakerphone with expansion mics.

Mixing and matching

Cameras and speakerphones can work side by side. A common pattern is a camera on the wall and a speakerphone on the table: BirdEye or a PTZ camera for the picture and one of the speakerphones for the sound. Check that your conferencing software lets you choose separate camera and audio devices.

How many people can each speakerphone handle?

The M3B is listed for 3-12 attendees. The M5B Pro, M6B-EX and AIW-M5B-EX are listed for up to 15, and the AIW-M5B-EX is listed for 20-30 when daisy-chained.

Do the speakerphones work wirelessly?

Yes. All four support Bluetooth 5.0, and also connect by USB-C or 3.5 mm audio, depending on the model.

How long do the batteries last?

The M3B lists up to 6 hours of calls and 8 hours of music. The M5B Pro, M6B-EX and AIW-M5B-EX list music playback of up to 18, 16 and 17 hours.

What's the difference between a PTZ camera and a webcam?

A webcam like the BirdEye is fixed. A PTZ camera pans, tilts and zooms, controlled by remote or presets, so one camera can cover a larger room.

What computers do they work with?

The speakerphones list Windows 7/8/10 or above, macOS 10.7 or above and Chrome OS. The MeetBar lists Windows 10 or above and macOS 10.10 or above.

Final Thoughts

Good meetings come down to two things: everyone can be seen and everyone can be heard. You don't need the most gear just the right gear for the room. Measure the space count the chairs decide whether you need video, audio or both, and use the table above to narrow it down.
